Prepare for the winged Ford known as “Crazyhorse” to stop a lot of folks dead in their tracks later this week at the 2025 Performance Racing Industry Show in Indianapolis. That’s right, the no-prep, Cummins-powered Ford that won Cleetus MacFarland’s springtime AWD Vs. RWD race will be on display in the Indiana Convention Center. Attendees can give it a complete visual once-over in the Hot Shot’s Secret booth (#3701). Other heavy hitting diesels will be on hand as well, including Truck Source Diesel’s new, aluminum body (and IFS-equipped) Pro Mod Super Duty and Austin Doidge’s recently reworked, 4-second Cummins.

Even Duramax specialists are impressed with the new 6.7L Power Stroke platform. The 6.6L experts at All In Truck Performance have been testing a King Ranch crew cab 4x4 F-250 and, so far, it’s mustered a 13.05-second quarter-mile at 102 mph on the Dragstrip (along with a 1.83-second 60-foot). The mods? Only a tune, an intercooler piping kit, and a cold air intake have been added. In other words, it’s 600-plus hp, 8,000-pound missile. Maybe this is why so many GM and Ram owners have gone to the dark side in recent years and now drive Blue Ovals.

The ability to go old-school with your competition Cummins build just became a whole lot easier thanks to New Performance Auto. The Virginia-based company has released a product that allows you to bolt a P-pump to your common-rail front gear case. Its case is designed to utilize the injection pump to drive a lift pump (such as the gear-driven Waterman unit pictured). It also locates the P-pump away from the block in order for the end user to run a stock (or stock-based) intake elbow. Customers looking for power steering will have to go electric over hydraulic with this arrangement, but it should prove to be a sound solution for purpose-built pullers.

Following the arrest of Cody Detwiler (a.k.a. Whistlin’ Diesel) last month, his alleged tax evasion case has grown increasingly more complex. In a video released over the weekend, the YouTube star disclosed that, in addition to facing felony tax evasion charges, he’s facing a gag order that would prohibit him from making “any pretrial extrajudicial statement via any form on any social media platform.” Could gag orders be why countless prominent shops and influencers within the diesel industry just up and disappear, or seemingly change entire business models overnight? Detwiler went to court in Williamson County, Tennessee at 9 a.m. today. So, maybe we’ll hear more from him soon. Then again, maybe we won’t.

By now you’ve heard that GM’s 10L1000, the 10-speed automatic transmission in its ’20-newer HD trucks, is full of weak links. To help keep its Duramax customer base on the road, the slushbox experts at Firepunk Diesel have integrated several key upgrades for the 10L1000. It all starts with a steel sleeve insert being added to the F-clutch drum, which keeps the steels from digging into the aluminum. Next up, a billet E-clutch hub allows for an additional clutch to be squeezed into this all-important stack for increased holding capacity. Last but certainly not least, a Sonnax high-limit/low-limit valve eliminates the temporary (and worrisome) wheel lockup issues late-model HD’s sometimes experience.
