Stop the presses! The Scheid Diesel Extravaganza is returning to Terre Haute. And it will be the 30th anniversary of one of the industry’s longest-running events. Expect an electric atmosphere to envelop the western Indiana town next August 28-29th, with the potential for more than 10,000 attendees to pass through the gates. All the usual attractions will be on tap, with ODSS eighth-mile action at Wabash Valley Dragway, PPL truck and tractor pulling, and a show-n-shine, dyno competition, and burnout contest all providing ‘round the clock entertainment. It’s going to be huge, so huge that Scheid is opening ticket sales on December 1st.

It’s coming, and it’s the big one. Building on the success of the Seventy 2 Fast class held at U.C.C. 2025, Firepunk Diesel’s Lavon Miller put out a teaser for hosting a sponsor-aided, $50,000 race at U.C.C. ’26. Less than two weeks later, the purse has grown to $100,000 in guaranteed payouts and entries are on hold (pending turbo availability). Winner takes $70K, runner-up wins $20K, and each semifinalist behind them receives $5K. Firepunk and Tameless Performance represent the title sponsors, while we at Snyder Performance Engineering (along with Warren Diesel Injection) chipped in as a $10,000 sponsor. $5K sponsors include No Zone Diesel, New Performance Automotive, Legend Tuning, and Poor Boys Diesel Performance. Last but not least, there are Power Stroke and Duramax contingency sponsors to try to get a V-8 out in front of all the Cummins competition.

One of the rarest Blue-Oval race icons is about to make headlines. It’s not every day that a true piece of Ford racing history surfaces, but this week the collector-car world lit up with a major announcement: a 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II Factory Lightweight—one of only three ever built, is officially heading to auction. And if recent trends are any indication, this one is going to spark an intense bidding war. Side Note: While this piece of history is a true one of a kind, if you're looking for your own GT, give us a call. We can help you out.

This is your weekly reminder that one of the most common high-pressure oil leak points in your 6.0L Power Stroke exists with the stand-pipe O-rings. If you own an ’03 or early ’04 6.0L, this message doesn’t apply. But if you’ve got an ’04.5-’07 sitting in your driveway, consider yourself warned. When diesel novice, Dave Stevens began experiencing hard starts on his 2007 F-250, he decided to dive headfirst into diagnosing it himself. Once the fuel supply side was ruled out, Dave looked at the oil side and discovered that ICP was taking way too long to build. His search for a solution took him under the valve covers and ultimately to a failed O-ring on this stand-pipe.

U.S. automakers don’t build sedans of any kind anymore. And if you do want an American made car in 2025 it either has to be a Ford Mustang or a Chevrolet Corvette. Not even the Camaro exists any longer, nor does the Fusion, the Taurus, or even Dodge’s Challenger or Charger. But why is this the case? The latest YouTube upload from S1apSh0es lays it all out. From the Cash for Clunkers program that effectively forced consumers (in time) to buy new cars rather than used, to the CAFE standards that allowed The Big Three to produce ever-larger trucks and SUV’s, it’s an interesting watch. And it poses an important question: what is going to happen to NASCAR? i.e. “stock car racing.”

It’s not exactly breaking news, as it was passed over the summer, but California residents are now finding that a mileage tax is being imposed on them. Obscure and hidden within a massive state budget bill known as Assembly Bill 130, it’s coined a Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) tax, but is actually a housing tax. What the VMT effectively does is affect housing regarding building new, in the Golden State. With it, local agencies are allowed to impose VMT fees on new housing across the state. The de facto tax is being passed on to homebuyers and renters. And yes, this is in addition to existing gas taxes consumers already pay for at the pump.
