4,157 HP At The Wheels

It finally happened. And Josh McCormack was the man to do it. Over the weekend, at the Diesels In The Mountain event in Richfield, Utah, the 4,000 hp barrier was broken. Following a few notable upgrades after his big win at this year’s Ultimate Callout Challenge, Mr. McCormack became Mr. 4000 when his ’07 Ram laid down the incredible numbers on the Northwest Dyno Series SuperFlow. His strategically planned and well-executed hit on the rollers produced peak horsepower at an insane 4,900 rpm while torque, limited in order to keep the cast-iron block from grenading, checked in at 4,484 lb-ft. The industry may never be the same.

Big Numbers For Hawk Performance Diesel’s Duramax

Dirty Hooker Diesel’s Morey Logue played the role of hired gun at Mid Michigan Mayhem over the weekend. His mission: drive Hawk Performance Diesel’s U.C.C. truck to a 2,000 hp performance on the chassis dyno. Chained to the Blessed Performance dyno, Morey delivered and then some, gleaning 2,280-rwhp out of the Oxford, Michigan company’s fire-breathing Silverado. Although made on a different set of rollers, the compound turbo’d and water-to-air intercooled monster’s new horsepower figure trumps the 1,930 hp it put up at U.C.C. Mid Michigan Mayhem is the same venue where DHD’s Last Minute Hooker laid down 2,261 hp on fuel one year prior.

Meet C-Tane

Say hello to “C-Tane,” a 1970 Chevy C10 Cummins conversion project being pieced together at Northeast Diesel Service of Missouri. The classic Chevrolet will boast a 12-valve 5.9L that should prove a handful on the street. It all starts with one of Northeast’s Super Street P-pumps, a 12mm P7100 that’s capable of flowing 600cc’s of fuel. For air, you’ll find an Aggressor 67-9 from Power Driven Diesel hanging from the 3-piece exhaust manifold—and possibly a sizeable atmosphere charger out in front of that eventually… Built entirely in-house, this tire-frying swap will be worth checking out once it’s finally roadworthy.

In Pursuit Of Greatness

Austin Doidge is serious about challenging Derek Rose’s 4x4 diesel record. Recent updates made on his common-rail second-gen include a new, SFI 25.4 certification and some masterful tin work (performed using a band saw, no less). It’s Austin’s hope that getting the truck’s weight down to the lightest it’s ever been—and perhaps the lightest 4x4 second-gen built to date—he’ll have a fighting chance at challenging Rose’s 4.41-second eighth-mile ET. With David Petrick’s tube chassis 4x4 race truck being pieced together for the same purpose—and Derek Rose even planning a return in 2026—things are bound to get very interesting in the upper ranks of diesel drag racing.

Ford's Latest Patent: Bed Mounted Lifts

"Man steps", grab bars, built-in storage, and multi-fold tailgates. The bed gadget battle between the OEM's has been going on for some time now, and it doesn't look like its ending any time soon. Ford's latest patent is for something we're kind of surprised hasn't shown up in the aftermarket, not in this way at least: a bed-mounted hoist. From the looks of the photos we assume the capacity will be very little. But that's probably perfect for the general owner that doesn't have the need for a full service body. As always we never know exactly what Ford is thinking when their patents go public. Only time will tell.

Holy Carnage!

There were fireworks on a recent Friday night pull in Uniontown, Missouri with the Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pulling Association, and the final ride of the season for this IH 1066 was a wild one. Roughly 175 feet into her pull, Jamie Janke’s Limited Pro Stock “Movin’ On” International blew up in catastrophic fashion. The block split in half and the top portion of the engine attempted to vacate the premises. Luckily the safety cable did its job in containing the engine and Jamie was unharmed during the melee. According to Jamie, the moment was more emotional than anything else, with the 1066 having been in the family since she was just five years old. This photo was captured by spectator, Samuel England.
